Finally decided on my own memorial tribute for Ocean …

It’s been 70 days without you… 

there will never be another one quite like this one. ​

My Vow To Ocean: 
My dream Boston was always a double blue eyed black masked fawn. A dog named Eclipse.
Along came Ocean. Well technically “Nellie.” Ick. 
I was presented the opportunity to own her. 
“I know you don’t like that much white or merle ” the lady said… but when I took one look at 
her, I wanted her here, with me. I had to have her. 
On October 15, 2022, Sean and I went to pick up the most beautiful, quirky girl ever. 
She was standoffish, of course, but with time she became mine. 
I try not to get too attached as I know what ultimately happens in my program. 
I retire all my dogs. 
I wish it didn’t have to be that way but it’s the way it is. 
Ocean produced 3 beautiful litters. 
Ocean’s Surprise: Pearl, Fenton, Coral, Triton 
Eat Your Veggies: Eggplant, Radish, Broccoli, Carrot, Onion 
The Eras Tour: Lover, Karma, Mastermind, Wildest Dreams, Willow
Three litters was enough, I loved that damn dog so much I wasn’t going to chance another 
litter. 
She was strange, odd, and all the things that retirement families would NOT want in a family
pet. 
I didn’t rehome her. She would live with me forever. She was the one exception to my rule. 
Ocean slept with me every night. 
She was quirky the entire time we had her. She barked at everyone, was scared to meet 
people. She would nip me in the butt sometimes when I came home from leaving her with 
Sean too long. 
She was my dog. I was her human.
I don’t think she was treated too good before me, but I treated her like a precious princess. 
So with that, I vowed I would never let that dog suffer at any time with me. 
And I had to keep that promise. I just wish it wouldn’t have come this soon. 
On Monday, January 19th, I made the most tough decision a dog owner ever has to make. 
I grabbed my Mom and we went to to the ER  that night so she could fall asleep forever, in my 
arms. 
So needless to say, I’m really a mess right now. 
That dog was the best 1192 days of my life.

And most importantly, a Yeti x Hedwig great granddaughter. 
Looking forward to seeing what she does in the future. 

What about Bob? 
We can't forget about him.
Bob is a hopeful future stud to our program. 

We are pleased to announce our newest addition, a Yeti x Echo granddaughter! We truly thought the end of those lines ended with Melvin, but low and behold, we were able to bring this beautiful girl home to MZBostons. 
In true Matthew fashion, this girl has has been bestowed a male name just like the 11 lb Melvin...

​Matthew Zane — Class of 2024 

If it wasn’t for our son, there may never have been a Boston Terrier program… 

Matthew will be graduating next month from high school!

If you are so inclined, I posted my Venmo for Matthew’s upcoming graduation. Please do not feel obligated, but I wanted to share it for those of you who’ve enjoyed watching Matthew grow up these past 10 years in the Matthew Zane's Boston Terriers program. 

Matthew doesn’t want to do the traditional graduation open house format, but I still want to acknowledge his hard work. 

It’s not lost on me where he was developmentally as a young child to the incredible accomplishments he’s made these past few years. When he was in Birth to 3, we incorporated sign language for his lack of words. Now he’s taking part in the school plays for the past 2 years! The change in him has been a sight to behold. 

He’s unsure of his future plans, but he is currently in the middle of writing a book. He’s taken a great interest in mythology. I believe he’ll be making it into a trilogy. 

Thank you with all my heart for following along in our journey. This is an incredible milestone and I can’t wait to see what Matthew accomplishes in the future!

We've been feeding Royal Canin for that past few months now with great success. 
I recommend ordering food straight from the Royal Canin website. 
There is no charge for shipping no matter the amount you purchase.
When puppies reach 5 weeks of age, I will send out an e-mail containing a recommendation of the food we use. Within this e-mail will also have a coupon included. That way you can have food ready to go for when your new puppy comes home. 
Your puppy will also go home with a Royal Canin Puppy Starter kit (if kits are in stock and I have them on hand) which contains a small sample size of their puppy food along with a tote bag, measuring cup, and coupon for your first order. 
Not only that, I typically have a canister of food in each of my puppy packs that contain some probiotic for transitioning. It's best to use that little canister first since going home can be stressful.

Update 10/8/24
While I wholeheartedly recommend both foods for Pet Families, I can no longer recommend the adult formula for breeders. Whatever the reasoning, I had too many c-sections in a row while on the adult Royal Canin formula and now that I switched my adults back to Purina One things seem to be better. Again, this is for breeders, not pet families... 

​Happy 1st Birthday Melvin!
We've had a lot of puppies and adult dogs come and go through the years in our program.
There were quite a few Matthew was very fond of... typically adults. So it's hard to see them go, but it's the nature of the beast.
But then low and behold, last year Matthew decided to pick out a pup for himself.
He chose a VooDoo x Stevie (granddaughter to Yeti x Echo) pup born on January 1, 2023.
I knew fairly early on that she'd have a blue eye and no one scooped her up. Everyone wants blue eyes, I thought for sure she'd be picked.
Then Matthew picked her.
I asked Matthew if he'd want to raise a litter from her. Told him the pros/cons involved and he decided he didn't want to take the risk.
I had Melvin spayed early on around 6 months old so he wouldn't have to deal with a heat cycle.
She's slept with him pretty much since she was 8 weeks old.
She's funny too.... he's got a little dog bed for her so whenever he goes to bed or whenever he's in his chair watching a movie or gaming, that dog is right there in her little dog bed. She's not cuddly with him which is perfect for him. It's like she knows how he is. It was so cute when he picked her out a Transformer toy when she got spayed that stays in her dog bed. That kid is addicted to Transformers.
But when Matthew's at school or at play practice and she's hanging out with me or Sean, she will be a lap dog with us.
He loves that little dog.
One year old and weighing in at 11 lbs 7 oz.
I told Melvin don't expect anything fancy today, gifts or treats or anything, Matthew's not that kind of guy.
I get a lot of questions about her name. It comes from a video game and a skit Matthew did for school on a Roaring 20's project. The names Melvin and Fenton were the characters. I actually played Fenton and used the name for a boy I kept back until Radish came along, and Matthew played the character Melvin. It just made sense to name her that.
